Residents at a High Wycombe care home welcomed local children for a teddy bears’ picnic designed to bring different generations together.
Ridley Manor, on The Row, hosted children from Lane End Primary School for an afternoon of games, food and activities in the home’s garden.
The visit included a teddy bear scavenger hunt, with clues leading children and residents around different parts of the garden, including the lavender patch, shed and garden hose.
Residents helped the children follow the clues and find teddy bears hidden at each location before everyone gathered for the picnic.
The children, residents and their teddy bears then shared fruit, ice lollies and drinks while spending time chatting and singing together.
Resident Joan said: “I really enjoyed the picnic with the children. I brought a teddy from my room but can’t remember where I got him from.
“I love having the children here as they always make me happy.”
Bringing generations together
The visit formed part of the care home’s efforts to create opportunities for residents to spend time with younger members of the local community.
Hayley Devereaux, Customer Relations Manager at Ridley Manor, said: “We had a lot of fun hosting our picnic and it was fantastic to see so many children, residents and teddy bears come together for the occasion.
“It was a wonderful opportunity for residents to share memories of their childhood and create meaningful connections across generations.
“Seeing the children engage with residents through games, activities and conversation highlighted the positive impact these interactions can have for everyone involved.”
She added: “We’d like to thank everyone at Lane End Primary School for joining us and helping make the day so memorable. We look forward to welcoming them back again soon.”
